Getting caught for speeding is fair enough but getting a fine and having points on your licence for the same offence sucks you are being punished twice if you drive in Europe and other countrys you get a fine and thats it

They cycle two abreast because they are busy having a in depth conversation about wearing each other's lycra and not concentrating on the queue of traffic they have caused behind them because they are causing a wider obstruction than really necessary thus causing vehicles trying to overtake them to drive much further on the side of the road of oncoming traffic. Some drivers are not as confident crossing the white line and how on earth do you expect an articulated lorry to pass these cyclists once they have had to slow right down to 15mph having caught them up and being unable to pass them safely riding two abreast? There has been too many powers given to cyclists now and they really are taking advantage of these powers. You can tell which cyclists do not hold a driving licence too because they have absolutely no road sense or consideration for the motorist. And before you shoot me down in flames, yes I am a cyclist. But I do consider other road uses and give vehicles priority and space to pass me safely.

Testing the driving standard and vision acuity in older drivers would be beneficial to everyone. I see too many drivers in my rural area who can’t reverse safely, can’t park straight, wander in their lane and drive so slowly that it frustrates the cars behind into attempting to overtake. Withdrawing the driving licence from those who fail to meet basic driving competence and handling standards will undoubtedly be upsetting for the driver, and I have been there with my own Mother, but I think that it is extremely important for their safety and the safety of other road users and pedestrians.

The Police have abdicated so many responsibilities. They rarely patrol. Their clear up rate is a joke. They need to take a long hard look at their actions.

20mph on residential side roads is fair enough. You shouldn't be doing 30 down narrow residential roads anyway. Similar for anywhere there are schools and nuseries too. However, a 20 limit on a 4 lane A road (2 each way) is ridiculous. This is becoming commonplace and appears to be just revenue generation. Also, there is disparity across the country. What one council does, another will not. This is confusing for motorists and the current speed policies unworkable as a result. I think the Dept for Transport should be setting stricter guidelines for councils and authorities and having the power to overturn them if need be. Another factor is driver training and ability. There are far too many incapable and poorly trained motorists on the road - this needs to be clamped down on rather than concentrating on speed alone. Rant over.

check out the police cars number plate, To be road legal your number plate must have certain elements on it. At the bare minimum it must have a registration, show the suppliers name and postcode along with a BS number. Of course, the manufacturer's name is also shown next to the BS number.1
